I’m Taylor Maycan, a multimedia journalist and social media strategist currently based at USA TODAY.

I produce (and often host/do guest spots for) a number of newsroom podcasts, including two recently wrapped music shows: Dad Rock, which was hosted by — you guessed it — two music-obsessed dads who haven’t lost their love for rock n’ roll, and its sister show, Tuesdays With Mary.

And then there’s The Mothership, a weekly roundtable on all things nerdy in entertainment and pop culture. Recently added into the mix: Cup of Politics, a no-holds-barred analysis of the Beltway’s biggest stories of the week. Or, as we like to say: We bring you politics without the partisanship.

As a senior editor and the lead multimedia and social media editor for USA TODAY College, I do a little bit (okay, a lot) of everything. One of my favorite work perks: mentoring dozens of young journalists in producing top-notch stories for our site, which is the nation’s premier digital news source produced by college students, for college students.

Last but certainly not least, you can find me writing for The Short List, USA TODAY’s nightly newsletter that rounds up the day’s top stories. It’s short, it’s list-y and it’s chock full of personality.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism with online news and social media concentrations from the Medill School of Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University and a second degree in surviving Chicago winters (pro tip: eating lots of pizza helps).

Thanks for stopping by my site!
